EVO ICL Lens

What is the EVO ICL Lens?

EVO ICL is an Implantable Collamer™ Lens designed to correct myopia (nearsightedness) and astigmatism. The lens is slightly smaller than a contact lens and made from Collamer, which is a biocompatible material. This lens is implanted in the eye with a short surgical procedure. Because the lens doesn’t permanently change the shape of your cornea like other vision correction surgeries, it can be removed and upgraded.

What happens during the EVO ICL Lens procedure?

The EVO ICL procedure takes 20 to 30 minutes. Your eyes are numbed with an anesthetic eye drop to ensure you feel no pain during the surgery. Dr. Waring or Dr. DeCourcey will make a small incision to implant the ICL between your iris (the colored part of your eye) and the natural lens of your eye.

The EVO ICL lens is placed behind your iris, ensuring it is not visible to anyone except for your eye doctor. Dr Waring will schedule a follow-up appointment the same day or the next day after your procedure to ensure your healing is going smoothly and according to plan.

You will not be able to feel the lens as it does not adhere to any structures within your eye. Once it is in place, it will not move.

Recovery after EVO ICL

The recovery period varies from client to client, but it is generally quite short. Clients who have had EVO ICL in Charleston, SC, generally recover faster than those who have had laser eye surgery.

After Surgery

Immediately after ICL surgery, and for a day or two afterward, your vision will be slightly blurry, and you may feel some soreness or irritation. This is completely normal and expected, with these effects being mild enough that many ICL clients return to work within 1-2 days after their surgery.

1-2 Days Later

During the first one or two days, avoid digital screens and bright lights, wear sunglasses, and get plenty of rest as your eyes heal. We will also provide an eye drop regimen to follow to help with the recovery process.

Final Recovery

One of the Doctors at Waring Vision will follow up with you several times after your procedure to ensure you’re healing well. The first appointment is the same day or the next day after surgery. You will return in another week, then within the next 1-2 months, and finally after 3-6 months. During this period of time, your vision will gradually continue to improve.

Results after EVO ICL

Most clients experience improved vision immediately, experiencing the benefit of sharp, clear vision and excellent night vision. Many clients do not need their glasses or contacts anymore.

However, keep in mind that the EVO ICL corrects for distance vision. This means that at some point you may need to use reading glasses.

The EVO ICL is designed to permanently correct your vision. However, if an upgrade or further correction is needed, it can be removed and improved by Dr. Waring or Dr. DeCourcey.

They will examine your eyes, vision concerns, and take other factors into account to help determine if this is the right procedure for you.

EVO ICL may be an ideal option for clients who meet the following criteria:

  • Are generally in good health, with no serious medial concerns
  • Are between age 21 and 45
  • Are not pregnant or nursing
  • Have moderate to severe nearsightedness (with or without astigmatism)
  • Prescription is stable and has not changed within the last year
  • Have good ocular health
  • Have no history of glaucoma, iritis, or diabetic eye disease
